Davidson County Man Raffling $450K House For Price Of $100 Ticket

NewFrontFor the first time that we have heard of locally, a man will be raffling off a house right here in our own backyard of Davidson County! Tim Taylor (who used to advertise as Tim Taylor Realty in The Real Estate Book of High Point) is raffling off a 6,000-square-foot home worth $450,000 for the price of a $100 ticket.

Taylor built the five-bedroom house six years ago in Davidson County’s Willow Creek Neighborhood. He had it on the market, but it never sold. A few years ago Taylor had success raffling off a car he owned where he donating the proceeds to charity.

He decided to try it again with the house — this time the money will be donated to a Guilford County nonprofit named I am now, Inc.

I am now, Inc. is a transitional house for young people who have aged out of the foster care program and find themselves with nowhere to live.

“In the United States, young folks traditionally don’t transition out of their house until they are 26, and the expectation for these young folks is to be on their own. Considering the economy and the state we’re in, that’s totally impossible,” Taylor said.

Taylor said the sale of the house could help keep kids off the street. He must sell at least 7,650 tickets before the raffle is allowed to go forward. So far he’s sold 200 tickets.
