The Triad marks Groundhog Day with two different offerings

"Phil"
The Triad marks Groundhog Day tomorrow, February 2 with two local events that range from the traditional Groundhog Day to one with a bit of an unusual twist!
For a more traditional version you can go to the Natural Science Center at 4301 Lawndale Drive, Greensboro, NC where “Woody” will make his annual weather prediction promptly at 10am. For more information contact the Natural Science Sent at (336) 288-3769.
A different take on Groundhog Day can be found in Lexington, NC where “Lil Bit” will be at Uptown Lexington’s office at 220 North Main Street at 7:45 am to see if she can produce a shadow. What is different about “Lil Bit” is that she is pot-bellied pig, a choice that gives a nod to Lexington’s barbecue heritage. For more information about the 6th Annual GroundHawg’s Day, contact Uptown Lexington, Inc. at 336-249-0383.
Don’t forget to watch the Creasey family of Lexington tonight on Extreme Home Makeover

Extreme Home Makover
Tonight the Triad area gets to see one of their own on CBS’s Extreme Home Makeover at 8pm featuring the Lexington family of William and Tricia Creasey and their three daughters.
The home was built by Hedrick Creative Building with 2500 volunteers who constructed the home in 106 hours. In addition, the singer, Jewell and her bull-riding husband, Ty Murray also volunteered in the building of the Creasey’s home.
The family’s original home was built in the 1930s and needed many structural repairs. When they bought the home 12 years ago, they hoped to fix it up, but Tricia was diagnosed with colon/rectal cancer three years ago. Medical insurance didn’t pay for all her treatments, so the family used what they saved for renovation to pay the bills.
The Creasey’s moved into their new home in November and are looking forward to viewing the entire episode tonight and re-living their amazement and gratitude of having their community pull together for their family.
